Information for BiB Families >Parents' Meetings

Recruitment has finished, we have a cohort of around 13,500 babies and that means that about 30,000 Bradfordians are now directly involved in this study!
It is really important that any parents involved can have their say about what happens next: what research is done, what is important to you as parents, how people find out the results from the research projects, and what it means for them and their families. We want to know how you view your children’s health and how you think health services are there to be used. We also want to find out more about your views on how we are running the study and collecting and using information on your child’s health.

We want help with running events such as the Teddy Bears’ Picnic, and ideas about where to display our amazing photographs and to show the films we have made.
As the first Born in Bradford children are now reaching their fourth birthdays we are looking more closely at their health records to analyse, for example, how many children get asthma or eczema and what health services they need to access, how frequently they see their GP, how often they go to hospital and what specialist services they access. This will help us to understand more about the causes of common childhood illnesses and how health services can be better provided in Bradford.

We would like to talk about these important topics with any BiB parents who have time to meet up with us. We also want to offer feedback about what we have learnt from the study so far.

We have arranged a series of meetings at children’s centres around the city. There should be one happening near you some time over the next school term.

All BiB parents are welcome to come along; bring a friend if you don’t want to come alone.

Any questions? Give Ann Barratt a ring on 01274 383409 or contact her through
Facebook.

We will have a bi-lingual member of staff present who can translate conversations into Urdu/Punjabi so everyone’s opinion can be heard.
