The BiB Film and Photo Gallery
Born in Bradford is fortunate to be able to work
with
Bradford-born photographer Ian Beesley to
capture the people of the cohort on film. In 2009
Ian’s Born in Bradford work was shown at two highly
successful exhibitions at the National Media Museum
and the Impressions Gallery in Bradford.
From 2007 to 2009 Ian worked on the Delivery Suite
and the Maternity wards at Bradford Royal Infirmary
to do a series of photographs of
fathers with their
new-born babies, often taken just minutes after the
baby was born.
In January 2009 we invited all the BiB babies born
on
New Year’s Day to
have their photos taken with their parents. This was
the start of an annual event. In 2011 we added to
the number of babies by inviting all those born on
Christmas Day
2010 and
New Year’s Day
2011 to come along to the photo shoot.
In March 2009 we invited all the
Twins to be
photographed, at the time there were 66 sets of
twins: now that recruitment has finished we have 175
sets of twins and 3 sets of triplets and they are
all invited for an annual photograph. In 2011 we met
and photographed 44 sets of twins and 1 set of
triplets in one afternoon! It is fascinating to see
the babies growing and changing as the years go by.
